Kitchen 1

This 1950's kitchen was stripped down to the studs. Walls were removed to open it up. LVL's were installed to support the roof load. The washer and dryer were relocated to the basement.

The existing 8' cast iron radiator was relocated behind custom made radiator covers that matched the cabinets. The window was replaced with 6' of sliding doors to access the new 350 square foot deck that we also designed and built. (See "Other Work" / "Deck".)

Glass inserts in the cabinet doors leading to the deck alleviate the monotony of what would have been a long run of doors, and highlight the dish and glassware in the cabinets.

Wall speakers were installed in the soffits that are part of the first floor sound system.

Porcelain tile that mimics black slate was selected for its durability given its proximity to the outdoors.

Counter-weighted pendant lighting over the island provides an attractive design element while providing warmth to the kitchen and function for food preparation.
